“Today, Egyptians who are wise people with a brilliant Islamic background are on the scene, and care should be taken lest the enemy divert the popular movement [in Egypt] and bring to power an individual affiliated with the Pharaonic Egyptian regime,” said the Leader in a meeting with a host of Islamic intellectuals and guests attending the 24th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that the world of Islam is presently at a “very sensitive” juncture.
“Understanding this sensitive juncture, strengthening the people's faith in God, maintaining unity, refusing to be intimidated by the imposing façade of the US and believing in the divine promise of victory will pave the way for the millions-strong popular movement in the Islamic world to emerge successful and triumphant,” the Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored a proper understanding of the current “historic juncture” will help settle the problems plaguing the Muslim world, but new problems will emerge if it is not properly understood and utilized.
“The enemies seek to paint an un-Islamic picture of the popular movements in Egypt, Tunisia and other parts of the Muslim world, but these popular movements are definitely Islamic and should be reinforced,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The Leader then singled out the United States as the “major problem the Muslim world is faced with.”
“This problem should be removed from the Muslim world and the US should be weakened,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader touched upon Iran's achievements and breakthroughs on the scientific front, saying the country has made enormous progress in the field of science and technology, including the nuclear knowhow, in defiance of all sanctions and pressures.
“The ruckus raised by the West is no longer effective as they have fallen behind the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the passage of time will be in Iran's favor,” said the Leader.
